The actress was born to Usha Sawant and a Mumbai Policeman. She is the sister
of film director Rakesh Sawant and former actress Jaya Sawant.

Very few people know that Rakhi made her debut in Bollywood with the flick Dil ka Sauda in 1999 that went unnoticed.
But it was Chura liya hai tumne that gave Sawant a kick start in the industry.

Rakhi moved on to do numerous short roles and item numbers in various films like Masti,
Mai Hoon Naa, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and 1920 to name a few.
